Vancouver Thunderbirds Summer Internship 2025

Position: The Vancouver Thunderbirds are seeking talented and driven individuals to serve in our annual summer internship program. Successful applicants will take part in a variety of roles associated with Thunderbird Club operations including:
Organization and delivery of Summer Camp programming
Delivery of community outreach programming
Club Junior Development Coaching
Social Media development and marketing
Assistant meet organization with the Longest Day 5k/10k Road Race (June 13th)
Location: While all administrative work included in the position can be carried out remotely, applicants will need to be based in the Vancouver area and able to attend Thunderbirds events and activities across the Metro Vancouver region.
Reports To: Blake Furtado - Thunderbirds Track and Field Club Manager.
Dates of Employment: May 5 - August 15, 2025.
Hours of Work: 280 hours of flexible part-time work spread across dates above
Compensation: $19.90/hour.
Responsibilities:
Conduct school programs as part of the Making Track Fun Program.
Coach as part of the Junior Development Program in conjunction with the Head Junior Development Coach
Assist Junior Development Head Coach at periodic weekend competitions.
Interact with parents and athletes to remind them of upcoming events.
Supervise and work as primary instructor at the Thunderbirds Summer Track Camp.
Collaborate/communicate with the club manager on a daily basis to complete job tasks.
Assist with event coordination for the Harry Jerome International Track Classic (exceptions will be made for applicants competing in the meet).
Act as Race Director’s (Graeme Fell) main event coordinating assistant during the Longest Day Road Race, and assist with set up prior to event.
General Conduct:
Create a positive, safe, and supportive environment during all activities.
Act as an appropriate role model for people including actions, language, and work habits.
Be a team player and collaborate with coaches, parents, and the public in a professional manner.
Have the ability to positively motivate, encourage, and inspire children.
Qualifications:
Full-time student (Secondary or Postsecondary) during the previous academic year.
Intending to enroll in the upcoming academic year preferred (Secondary or Postsecondary).
Background in, or knowledge of, any of the following areas: Track and Field, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or Sport and Recreation.
Experience working with children is highly valued, but not mandatory.
Preference given to NCCP Sport Coach Certified applicants.
Criminal Record Check provided or completed in a timely manner.
Valid driver's license (minimum requirement of “N” or comparable classification) and access to a vehicle.
