JD Athletes Continue with Mid-Season Success
It has been a busy month for the Vancouver Thunderbirds Track and Field Club as the outdoor season is well under-way. Below is a recap of our Junior Development program's recent success, compiled by head coach, Graeme Fell.
Vancouver Olympic Club Track and Field Meet:
At the first meet of the year, VOC meet, held at Swangard Stadium, the club had 40 of its JD members competing, either as members of their school teams or as part of our club. Those competing for the club notched up a first place finish amongst club teams beating out Ocean Athletics and VOC by a significant margin. Individualy, the athletes notched up 19 first place, 18 second place and 17 third place finishes, together with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in relays. A great start to the season!
Norwester's Track and Field Meet
At the second meet of the season, the Norwesters Meet, again at Swangard, TBirds achieved 10 first place, 15 second place and 8 third place finishes, with notable performances from Loren Eisses (wins in both the 100m and 20m to match her VOC meet result), Maya Baechler (2.24 in the 800m), Clarence Cheung (4.74 in the long-jump), together with strong performances from our distance runners (Miller, Kai, Michael, Griffen, Brayden, Adam, Gabbi B, Kate, Libby, Ruby, and Christina B) all showed good early season form.
