Thunderbirds Transition into Fall XC & Road Racing
15 JD Thunderbirds toed the line at the Pinetree Classic in Coquitlam’s Mundy Park this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day for running and the young TBirds took advantage of the excellent weather to record some impressive early season marks.
Gabbi Barton took 2nd in the 2007 race, followed by Ruby Forsyth and Kate Logan in 5th and 6th, Natalie Franke finishing in 14th overall (2nd in her age group). Griffin Cole took 3rd in the 2007 race, with Harris Boomer taking 2nd new TBird, Elijah Clarke taking 3rd in the 2008 race.
In the 2005 race, Maya Baechler easily won the girls event, being narrowly beaten only by the boys’ winner. Clare Logan finished 4th, while Emily Franke and Madison Garbuz ended up 9th and 10th. In the 2006 race Cristina Banducci took 5th.
Adam Rentz took 2nd in the boys’ 2005 race, a position duplicated by Kai Martland in the 2006 race, with new team-mate Liam Dawes-Foster taking 11th.
In the high school divisions, Makenna Baechler finished 7th in the 2003 race and Ravi Mehta took 7th in the boys’ 2004 event. For a complete list of results from the Pine Tree XC Classic, click here.
On the other side of town, Grade 10 athlete Dylan Uhrich raced to a new 10k personal best time at the Eastside 10k, presented by the Canadian Running Series. Dylan was the top under 20 male finisher with a time of 36:29 on a tough and hilly course! For a full list of East Side 10k Results, click here.
