Thunderbirds add Master's Throw Program, October 2017.
The Vancouver Thunderbirds Track and Field Club are pleased to announce the start of our Master's Program, beginning October 16th, at UBC Rashpal Dhillon Track.
In addition to our Master's Power Speed Program (coached by Andrew Cooke) which will focus on 100-400m events (including hurdles), Coach Don Allemeersch will lead a throw specific program for Master's athletes interested in shot put, discus, hammer throw, and/or javelin. (Athletes interested in events outside of the above listed, will be assessed on an individual basis.)
Originally from Vancouver, Andrew Cooke (left) is a Level 3 NCCP certified coach for Sprints & Hurldes. He is a UBC track alumni who competed at the national level and uses these experiences to help athletes grow and meet their potential.
Don Allemeersch (right) is a well-rounded throws coach and certified fitness and Stretch Band instructor. He is an active masters throws athlete and current Canadian and BC Masters M55 record holder in discus and shot put.
Master's throw practices will be held Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-8pm weekly, beginning October 16th. All athletes are welcome to trial one week of free training with Don, prior to committing to a membership. All new annual memberships are currently on sale, with memberships expiring December 31, 2018. If interested in a free trial, athletes are encouraged to notify Club manager, Kendra Pomfret via email: kendra@thunderbirdstrack.org
Annual membership ($450.00) *does not include BC Athletics Membership. Click here for details.
We look forward to the continual growth of our club, by offering more track and field programs and resources to all! See you at the track! #gothunderbirdsgo
